get cozy inside
Weston Mountain Lodge recalls a classic mountain cabin vibe due to its striking wood accents. It has a grand, sturdy, sheltered feeling with a 24-foot ceiling at its apex supported by Douglas fir beams that run the length of the structure. The Lodge was built in the late ‘70s and its design was inspired by Forest Service structures in Alaska.
The second floor is open to the living space downstairs, which flows from living room to kitchen to dining room and outside to the deck and the hot tub room.
Even though the Lodge is a large space with high ceilings, the main floor feels open to the outside, while also feeling comfortable, cozy and sheltered from the elements.
The main living area has a cozy couch and armchairs tucked up around a propane stove in front of a wall of windows where you can watch wildlife and weather, curl up with a book, listen to music and visit with your loved ones.
MAKE MUSIC There is a charming antique upright piano and a guitar on the wall of the dining room if you’re feeling musical—the Lodge has GREAT acoustics!
The great acoustics are also for the stereo system, which includes a substantial collection of CDs for the six-disc changer (overflow discs can be found in the downstairs bedroom closet), record player (with an eclectic selection of records) and an AUX cable for connecting your device to the sound system.
A CHILD’S DELIGHT The Lodge and its land are a haven for children of all ages. Inside are books and toys for young visitors, a high chair, a chair that hooks to the island bar counter and a bathtub.
You’ll find a fun kid’s space tucked behind the piano with games, toys, chairs and a table brimming with drawers of LEGOs. We also have a variety of high chairs and counter seats, plus baby monitors, safety covers for electrical outlets and would love to do whatever we can to make your children’s stay as enjoyable as your own!
kitchen & dining room
KITCHEN The kitchen is a cook’s paradise—fully stocked with everything you might need! You’ll find a crockpot, waffle iron, roasting pan, knives + knife sharpener, all the cooking implements, loads of dishes, pots and pans of all shapes and sizes, mixing bowls, hand mixer, blender, Cuisinart, baking pans, as well as a coffee maker, grinder and filters. You’ll also find a selection of teas, cocoa, apple cider and creamer/sugar for your enjoyment. A well-stocked spice cupboard has all you’ll need, including a selection of oils and vinegars.
DINING ROOM The dining table seats eight and there is a round oak table across from the kitchen that can also seat 6-8. You’ll find an extra leaf for that table in the dining room. There are four TV trays and additional folding chairs that can be used anywhere you need them on the property.
SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS
The Lodge sleeps up to 11 people in four bedrooms. Upstairs is a day bed with a trundle bed to sleep 2 more. The house has a queen-size blow-up mattress and an additional twin mattress that can also be set up for an extra 3 people. The house can sleep 16 with the blow-up beds.
The main floor bedroom has a queen-size bed and a twin bed with an adjacent bathroom. The bath has a shower with a built-in seat, fluffy towels, grab bars and basic toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, soap, toothpaste/extra new toothbrushes, hand lotion, Q-Tips and cotton swabs).
There are three upstairs bedrooms and a day bed/trundle bed. These rooms share one bathroom that has a shower/tub combination with lots of towels and extra toiletries if you should need anything.
THE LIBRARY ROOM This room has a queen-size bed that sleeps two. Enjoy a private deck under the shelter of the nearest “high rises” — a grove of majestic Douglas firs and ponderosa that soar to more than 150’ above the Lodge. A handmade barn wood bed frame is a standout feature, as is the skylight.
The library is a floor-to-ceiling book collection replete with thought-provoking and eclectic books for all ages, as well as reference books of flora and fauna and local maps and recreation information.
THE BLUE ROOM The walls are a beautiful sky blue and the room has a skylight and two large windows that let in abundant natural light. The bunk beds and a double bed are a good configuration for a family with children, a group of children, or any other grouping for that matter!
THE MAIN BEDROOM At the north end of the house the main bedroom, with a queen-size bed, is a private retreat that enjoys views out to the aspen grove through the large windows. The stately wooden bed makes this room feel extra special! There is a private door that leads to a deck off the end of the house. Enjoy total privacy and peace from this room. There is also a desk, which makes a perfect spot for working or studying remotely in this mountain paradise!
THE PENDLETON ROOM Upstairs at the end of the hall is a colorful “hang out” space where you will find a TV with DISH TV and Netflix as well as a large collection of DVDs. Curl up and enjoy movies! Also, a long table with good overhead lighting makes this a fun place to craft, do puzzles, or work on a project.
THE MEZZANINE A daybed brimming with cozy pillows and blankets is tucked under a skylight where you can curl up with a book from our library, take a nap, or watch the weather and trees through the skylight. At night, this becomes an extra sleeping space for two with a pull-out trundle bed below.
HOT TUB & SCREENED PORCH
THE HOT TUB ROOM This magical space is a bridge between inside and out. You can climb in the tub and open windows and a slider on three sides, which allows for fresh breezes or—in the winter—a refreshing chill to compliment the warmth of the tub. It can easily accommodate three to five people.
SCREENED PORCH Next to the hot tub room and just off the back patio is a screened porch that offers a shaded, bug-free place for eating and hanging out. It’s also a great place to work remotely with birdsong and fresh mountain breezes to keep you company! There are two large prep tables, a microwave, and an extra fridge/freezer and coffee maker as well as a dining table that seats five. You’ll find a fold-up table here that you can take out and use on the grounds whenever you’d like.
The Screened Porch is where you’ll find dry firewood, kindling and lighters, extra folding chairs, yard games, grilling tools and sticks for roasting marshmallows—among other things!
soaking up the mountain life outside
There are many places where you can enjoy the beauty and seclusion of Weston Mountain Lodge and the land. The main bedroom and the library room (both upstairs) have private decks and the front of the house also has a lovely deck with a teak table and umbrella that can accommodate eight people. It’s a lovely place to enjoy coffee and breakfast while listening to the birds. The back cement patio has a fire pit, a picnic table with umbrellas, a gas grill and a view of the wonderful outdoor play structure for children to enjoy. There’s also a picnic table right next to the play set for your enjoyment.
Outside, kids of all ages can enjoy the abundance of nature as well as play on the beautiful outdoor play structure with swings, a slide, a small climbing wall and plenty of buckets and shovels for digging.
There are several meadows for picnicking, laying out a blanket for a nap, pitching a tent, or doing yoga. The upper meadow has a large stone fire pit. The lower meadow is near the pond and under the aspens, which provide nice shade and dappled light in summer. This is a perfect area for outdoor weddings or concerts, as the meadow is gently tiered, with amphitheater access to a round flat “stage” area adjacent to the pond.
There are trails that wind through the property and take you from open meadows through wooded groves of ponderosa and fir. The backland, behind the pond, is a wide open swath with gorgeous views of the sky that offers a quiet place for a variety of activities.
Our seasonal pond welcomes ducks and hundreds of frogs in the spring. A seasonal creek feeds the pond and provides an entertaining place to play and to keep cool in the summer.
There are aspen groves that quake and dance in the wind and that provide shade to our grassy meadows on the north end of the Lodge. Birds love our tall trees! From raptors to owls to hummingbirds and songbirds, don’t be surprised if the birdsong becomes the soundtrack to your time at the Lodge.
